What others are saying about the new Cd

  beginning with " The End"

"For many years I’ve had the opportunity to record a lot of songs by some very great song writers including a couple written by Sandy Shortridge and featured on my Larry Sparks 50 cd released in 2014. Here on Sandy’s cd, you will find some very good songs she has written. She is one of the most real-to-life writers, her songs really have a message, and besides that, she is a great singer from the mountains of Virginia. I am very honored to write to you a few words and sure you will enjoy this cd by my good friend,

Sandy Shortridge. " Larry Sparks

" At first blush the thing that hits me smack in the face about this CD is how wonderfully crafted these songs of faith truly are. Sandy Shortridge has a beautiful gift as a songwriter and a powerful voice that God Almighty gave her to communicate them with her audience, like no other.

I love these songs. I love the stripped down arrangements, where Sandy's voice can shine over these great melodies. She at times reminds me of Hazel Dickens because of her deep connection to Appalachia but she has her own thing that is so obviously connected to a place so dear to my heart ... the Appalachian Mountains and the ways of old. I tell you Sandy's voice & these songs will move you.... I just love Grandma's Gate.

I feel just like the singer, when she sings In The East.... what a great song of faith .... When you put me in the ground place my feet toward the East.... the direction Christ will come for us when He returns. Decoration Day, reminds me so much of my early life when folks would come from all over the US to the old Appalachians to have church at these small family cemeteries on the top of a mountain near our home,  Be close to their loved ones once a year, continuing life but still connected to their past with sadness, hope and Undying love. I love the fact that she made In The East a duet with the best mountain tenor in the business Mr. Don Rigsby. Just great rendering.

I tell you folks, if you're a fan of songs of faith & great family stories, sang in true Appalachian fashion, put in your ear buds .... set back & get set to hear an incredible CD that just oozes with honesty and humble faith .....Sang in a simple no frills Appalachian fashion. I'm a fan Sandy & I think you're gonna have a lot more (fans) once folks add this CD to their collection ... which I highly recommend...... brilliant work. "

"Sandy Shortridge writes and sings from the heart. You can hear the mountains in her voice and her words come from her life there. I'm thankful for the opportunity to sing with her. She is real. That's a rare commodity these days. God bless."

It’s an absolute honor to have played on this project for Sandy. Her writing is so real, I love the haunting melodies, it’s basically THE TRUTH!

She sings with much conviction, and I really enjoy "backing up" this talent!!

When The Crooked Road put together our CD "A Treasury of American Music," we issued a call for Southwest Virginia artists to submit their recordings for consideration. How fortunate we were that Sandy submitted her recordings and we included her song Grandma’s Gate on that compilation. I still vividly remember how thrilling it was to hear Sandy’s music and phenomenal voice for the first time, and to realize that such a gem of an artist was part of this region’s unbroken legacy of great heritage music. It has been a true honor for The Crooked Road to have shared Sandy’s music with those who love the music of our mountains.
